Double Dutch

NETHERLANDS
Voice-over professional and Double Dutch author Paul Strikwerda studied Musicology and English at the University of Utrecht, and European Studies in Amsterdam. Still in his freshman year, the public broadcasting corporation AVRO asked him to develop, produce and present youth radio and television programs.

He also hosted and co-wrote “Play it Again”, a popular radio show featuring music from the movies and the theater. His next career stop would be IKON Radio & TV, where he produced and presented documentaries and current affairs programs.

BBC
In the 90’s, Paul Strikwerda was offered a unique opportunity to work for the BBC Radio. During his stay in London, he produced “A Damn Good Lie”, a one-hour show that became an award-winning special for the BBC’s number one domestic radio station.

RADIO NETHERLANDS
Back on Dutch soil, Strikwerda began working as a news anchor, producer and reporter for the English and Dutch service of Radio Netherlands Worldwide, the Dutch World Service.

He covered major national and international news events in Dutch and in English, both as a reporter and as the news anchor of a prime-time current affairs magazine that could be heard all over the world. For three years, he also produced and hosted a weekly radio program on religion and social development.

MEDIA TRAINER
Backed by years of broadcasting experience, Strikwerda started providing media coaching services to Dutch for-profit and non-profit organizations. He was hired by the Dutch Roman-Catholic Church and the Dutch Council of Churches to train their top people to meet the press.

AMERICA
After moving to the United States, Paul spent some time producing the longest running, continuously airing Talk Radio health program: “Natural Living with Gary Null”. He soon discovered that there was a market for US-based European voice-over talent.

NETHERVOICE
Today, Paul records commercials, industrials, e-learning courses and documentaries in English, Dutch and in German. His audio books have found a worldwide audience.

Strikwerda’s company Nethervoice provides translation and voice-over services for clients such as Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, The Wharton School, the U.S. government and the United Nations.
